Press release from AICC

Urgent Attention
Church under construction desecrated; village tense
Mob of tribals attacks structure in Rohiyal Talal
All India Christian Council Gujarat state unit Condemn this attack
TENSION gripped the tiny hamler of Rohiyal Talal village in tribal-dominated Kaprada taluka near Surat in the wee hours of Sunday when around 15-20 people desecrated a church under construction. Police are yet to make arrests in this connection.
A complaint in this connection was registered by the Kaprada police under Sections 143, 427, 295, 447 of the IPC and Bombay Police Act, 135, on Monday afternoon.
On Sunday morning, a tribal mob, mainly of farmers, arrived in a jeep and on motorcycles and attacked the church.
The side walls, iron grills and window panes of the structure were damaged. The church was being constructed by one Suresh Ada Varli, a resident of Gotwan Falia at Rohiyal Talat village. Suresh Varli lodged a police complaint on Sunday morning.
The accused have been identified as Devji Natthu, Raya Dablu, Sita Lakshu, Mangal Lakshu, Hari Devji, Suresh Perda, Laxman Jania, Nanji ada, Bharat Vedhu, Janu Situ – all residents of Rohiyal Talat village, Tulsi Ade, Janu Antu and Shanker Budha of the adjoining Khutli village and Prabhudas Patel and Thona Nikalia of Kaprada village.
Official sources at the Kaprada police station said some members of the marauding mob like Prabhudas Patel, Shanker Budha and Thona Nikalia were local VHP leaders.
Investigating Officer of the Kaprada police station sub-inspector R. J. Jhala told: “The issue was between the brothers against their own brother who has converted into a Christian. The Hindu brothers were opposing the construction of the church because it was illegal. But when the complaint continued the construction the agitated villagers desecrated it on Sunday.
Asked about the involvement of VHP, Jhala said: “One Prabhudas Patel and others from Kaprada village are the local leaders of VHP and they were accompanying the villagers when the incident occurred.” No arrests have been made and the village is peaceful, he said.

Ken Livingstone
Mayor of London

Dear Mr. Livingstone,

Subject: Press release by Al-Muhajiroon: Annual Rally of Islam at Trafalgar Square on 25 July.

I am appalled to read this press release. I find it abusive, insulting and provocative, lacking humility of the believers. If Al-Muhajiroon wishes to hold such a rally they can do so in mosques/ Islamic centres but to allow them to use a public place like Trafalgar Square is simply unacceptable. This Square should not become a platform for proselytising. I support the call made by the Sikh Community to withdraw permission to use Trafalgar Square by Al-Muhajiroon for this purpose.

Yours sincerely

Dr. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui
Leader, The Muslim Parliament
