COME LISTEN TO 11 YOUTH BANDS CREATE AND PERFORM 11 NEW SONGS ON PEACE AND HARMONY

Rock the Nation: Young Bands Rock Against Rage

November 29, 2004, 4pm onwards, Venue: National Stadium, India Gate. Entry Free

Anhad - Act Now for Harmony and Democracy - is a group committed to peace and communal harmony. It was initiated in March 2003. ANHAD means without limits. We envisage it as an inclusive platform in which every one who stands for democracy, secularism, justice and peace can participate. The group is presently working in several states with its registered office in Delhi. Anhad started its Youth For Peace programme in July 2003. Around 50 students got together to form Youth for Peace. They were different in many ways –the language they spoke, the clothes they wore, the music they listened to, places they hung out at and the colleges and institutions they went to. Nevertheless they got together because they had one thing in common – all of them believed and believe in ‘Peace’ and more important is that all of them want ‘Peace’.
Youth for Peace is envisaged as an ongoing activity conceptualised, designed, executed by and for the youth in the campuses and schools.
Youth for Peace has organised many peace concerts, peace walks, workshops in colleges and schools. It shot into fame this year in May, when it organised a Youth Aman Karwan- Meri Awaz Suno. The Karwan with 30 students travelled across India covering 15,000kms touching 40 cities, towns and villages with the message of peace and harmony.

We have been constantly engaged in finding newer and creative ways to involve the youth in the issues around peace and communal harmony.

One such attempt is ROCK THE NATION- a rock concert where leading youth bands of Delhi would be performing. Each band has to compose, create a new song for communal harmony and peace and it is this song, which enters the competition. In this process we are not only involving these young musicians to think and create but by the end of it we will have 11 new songs which will become a regular part of the bands’ repertoire.

Judges: Rahul Ram (Indian Ocean), Sharat Srivastava( Mrigya), Ashwini ( Euphoria)

Rahul Bose is the Chief Guest for the evening.

PARTICIPATING BANDS: ALTER EGO, BRAIN DEAD SCHIZO, DESCANT, HELL BOUND HARMONY, ILLUSION, NASH, NOMADE, PARADIGM SHIFT, PRESTORIKA, THE SUPPERFUZZ BIGMUFF, XIPATION 441
